“Novasecta is a great place to get face to face with pharmaceutical industry executives. I enjoy working collaboratively with our clients and with the depth of understanding the collective ‘Novasecta brain’ brings to complex problems. There is always someone on hand or in the network with decades of experience, as well as a fantastically gifted team of consultants. It’s this blend of experience, craft and intellectual horsepower that sets Novasecta apart. The team atmosphere differentiates our working environment – I would describe Novasecta as an empathetic firm. When I turned up with six stitches in my eye from a Gaelic Football injury in my first month, the team were very supportive!”
Brendan works on a range of corporate, commercial and R&D projects with Novasecta. His particular areas of interest lie in translational research, M&A and portfolio management.
He started his career in the pharmaceutical industry in 2010 as a pharmacist in Belfast, before going on to practise in Manchester, Liverpool and London over the course of four years. Whilst practising pharmacy, he became increasingly involved in technology and entrepreneurship, which led to his joining KPMG in London in 2014, initially working in their Tech Growth team advising venture-backed health and life science tech companies.
After a year in this role he joined the firm’s Deal Advisory practice, where he managed commercial due diligence projects for private equity and trade buyers acquiring healthcare and life sciences assets. This gave him a strong knowledge of what drives value in transactions, alongside a suite of technical skills such as financial modelling and valuation techniques.
